Käfer GmbH & Co. Verwaltungs- und Beteiligungs KG, as the group is correctly called, has its headquarters in the Parsdorf district of Vaterstetten near Munich. The now widespread company was founded in 1930 in the form of a grocery shop by Elsa and Paul Käfer in Munich's Amalienstrasse. Just three years later, they moved into larger premises on Prinzregentenstrasse, where the Käfer Kaffee headquarters is still located today. The two sons, Gerd and Helmut Käfer, took over their parents' delicatessen business in the 1960s and developed other business activities. Gerd Käfer's son Michael joined the management in 1988 and took over in 1992. Since 1995, he has been the sole shareholder and managing director of Käfer Kaffee.
